@thebeautydoctrine: 🍊 If your skin “can’t tolerate vitamin C,” you may simply be using the wrong form. I would not give up on vitamin C altogether. Vitamin C plays an important role in collagen synthesis, functions as an antioxidant against reactive oxygen species, and can help address photoaging and uneven pigmentation. The problem for many sensitive skin types is L-ascorbic acid. Effective L-ascorbic acid formulations are typically acidic, and some people simply do not tolerate them well. That does not mean vitamin C is off the table. There are vitamin C derivatives designed to improve stability and formulation compatibility, although an important scientific caveat is that the amount of human clinical evidence varies considerably between derivatives. One of the forms I prefer for sensitive skin is tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, or THDA, an oil-soluble vitamin C derivative. Today I’m using Kari Gran Vitamin C Serum, which contains 10% THDA in a waterless oil base with plum, hibiscus, cloudberry, lingonberry and sea buckthorn oils, plus vitamin E. So if L-ascorbic acid leaves your skin burning, stinging or chronically irritated, my answer isn't necessarily to abandon vitamin C. Change the form. Protect the barrier. Keep the benefits. Beauty is health. ✨ #VitaminCSerum #SensitiveSkin #KariGran #SkinBarrier #FunctionalBeauty
