@efren_the_pa: Happy October! Remember October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! I lost my mom to breast cancer a few years ago and to me it is important to advocate and recommend mammograms and breast cancer screening! Mammograms and screening are recommended to be started at around age 40 and done up until age 74! If you are under the age of 40, there are other screenings that can be done, such as ultrasound or genetic testing. I always recommend doing self breast exams to check for any changes, as well as see your medical provider if you notice anything new or concerned about! And remember, men can also get breast cancer, even though its rare, so check for changes as well. I myself had to do genetic testing due to my mothers aggressive form of breast cancer and screen myself. If you need a screening or mammogram, speak to your provider, and if you don’t have one I’d be happy to get one set up for you! We offer mammograms and ultrasounds here at our Visalia office, as well as our Fresno office and can get you taken care of!
