Facebook apps in 2007, iPhone apps in 2008, TikTok in 2019, every big platform has a few months where distribution is free. Most people miss it. Step one, find a tool or workflow people already Google for or do by hand every week. PDF to Excel, invoice generator, weekly client reports." These are bottom-of-funnel keywords, keywords where people are looking for a brand to do something for them, but they don't know the brand, so they're searching situations like this. "Build it as a ChatGPT plugin. Write the description using the exact phrases people type into ChatGPT." This is just SEO - know your bottom-of-funnel keywords. "Ship five of them, see which ones get picked up, double down on the one with the most traction." Pietro Schirano is doing this: "Stop what you're doing. Build a plugin extension for ChatGPT. We've grown over 2,000% since the announcement." Lots of people are asking, "How do you monetize this?" "It's top-of-funnel exposure. Huge awareness generation opportunity to generate value, convert the people who look you up. A ton, if not most apps require you to have an account with them so that in itself is a way to bring people into your world." Somebody else, "You need to already have a product that is monetizable." So this looks like a great lead gen opportunity. "In 12 months, these slots will be crowded, but right now they're pretty empty. Most people will realize ChatGPT plugins were the biggest free distribution channel of 2026 sometime in 2027."
