@jessica.morales011: 🩷 UTERINE ULTRASOUND — QUICK REVIEW ▫️ Normal uterus • Homogeneous myometrium and smooth contour. • Endometrial thickness changes throughout the menstrual cycle. • No focal uterine lesion. ▫️ Fibroid (leiomyoma) • Well-defined solid mass arising from the myometrium. • Often hypoechoic; may cause acoustic shadowing. • Can alter the uterine shape or displace the endometrium. ▫️ Endometrial polyp • Focal echogenic tissue within the endometrial cavity. • A single feeding vessel may be visible on Doppler. • Key clue: a localized intracavitary lesion. ▫️ Adenomyosis • The uterus may appear enlarged and globular. • Heterogeneous myometrium, sometimes with asymmetric wall thickening. • Tiny myometrial cysts are a helpful clue. ▫️ Possible endometrial hyperplasia • Diffuse endometrial thickening, sometimes with cystic spaces. • Appearance may be homogeneous or heterogeneous. • Interpret findings alongside age, menstrual status, and symptoms. ▫️ Possible endometrial carcinoma • Irregular, heterogeneous endometrial thickening or mass. • Increased or disorganized vascularity may be present. • Suspicious findings require tissue assessment. 📌 Remember: Ultrasound findings can overlap. Endometrial thickness alone cannot distinguish hyperplasia from carcinoma; tissue sampling confirms the diagnosis. 📚 For educational purposes only.
