If I had to start a fat-loss phase from day 1 again, I wouldn’t immediately slash calories and start doing hours of cardio. I’d do this: 1️⃣ FIND A REALISTIC STARTING INTAKE Start with a moderate calorie deficit—not the lowest calories you can survive on. You want room to make adjustments later. 2️⃣ SET PROTEIN FIRST Build your meals around enough protein to help keep you full and preserve muscle while dieting. Then fit carbs and fats around it. 3️⃣ SET A STEP BASELINE Pick a daily step target you can actually repeat. If your activity changes wildly every day, it becomes much harder to know whether your calories are working. 4️⃣ KEEP LIFTING HARD Don’t turn your workouts into endless light-weight circuits just because you’re cutting. Your goal is to give your body a reason to KEEP the muscle you built. 5️⃣ BUILD 3–5 GO-TO MEALS Have meals you already know are filling and fit your calories. Protein + filling carb + fruit/vegetables + controlled fats. Less decision-making = easier consistency. 6️⃣ WEIGH IN CONSISTENTLY Morning. After the bathroom. Before food or water. Then use your weekly average instead of reacting to one random weigh-in. 7️⃣ DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING AFTER 3 DAYS Water, carbs, sodium, and digestion can hide progress. Give the plan enough time to actually collect useful data before adjusting it. 8️⃣ SAVE CARDIO AS A TOOL Cardio is useful, but I wouldn’t immediately max it out. Start with an amount you can recover from and increase it later only if needed. The goal isn’t to lose weight as fast as humanly possible. It’s to lose fat while keeping your muscle, strength, and sanity. Set up the plan correctly at the beginning and you won’t have to constantly “restart” your cut. Save this if you’re about to start dieting. My Built Lean Guide is linked in my bio for the full step-by-step approach to build muscle while staying lean. My 1:1 coaching application is also linked in my bio🤝 #Fitness #foryou #becklifts
