I prefer a browned and seasoned roast slow cooked in a roasting pan with a lid. The roast comes out less dried out than just wrapping in foil. Crock pot roasts are mushy and have less flavor, to me.

A crockpot ruins a good roast. I agree with Cody I like to brown mine on all sides and then put it in the tinfoil. I like a little crust on it.
