Sister, I understand why you encourage Somali youth to get an education. A degree can open doors, but trucking is also an honest career that can help someone build a good life. I started trucking at 24, and I’ve been doing it for 17 years. I have two fully paid-off houses. My eldest son will graduate next year as an X-ray technician, and my second son is in his first year of university. I’m helping pay their tuition because I value education too. We all come from different backgrounds and financial circumstances. Some people can go straight to university, while others need to work and support their families. Choosing trucking doesn’t mean someone lacks ambition. What matters is having a plan and making good use of what you earn. Life doesn’t come with a manual or a blueprint. We learn through experience. For me, the goal has always been to give my children a better life and more opportunities than I had. A huge part of the credit goes to their mother, who stood beside me through all these years. Our plan is to retire back home in eight years, inshallah. Boys, keep grinding!

Gues what. Truck driving helped me to have my Masters degree in health science, build family, have my own house, help every single person in my family, take my wife to vacations, go where ever I like any minute, stay with my family most of the time specially when my wife has a new babe two months straight off to help her and still running that bussines. I tried to get corporate job but couldn’t handle to yawn and stretch and try to come to life with 9-5 job like dolly pardon said. So wll I do believe in education cuz I did it by my self but smart-working in truck industry is the key of halal success in USA. So I’m advising them to plan smart on driving truck and build their future with it. You can do a lot when driving truck.
