@drashleycoerver: That little open-mouth sleeping face might look harmless, but if your child regularly sleeps with their mouth open, I want you to pay attention. As an airway-focused dentist, mouth breathing is one of the things I look for because it can be a sign that your child isn’t breathing comfortably through their nose while they sleep. If there’s an actual sleep-related breathing problem, their sleep can be repeatedly disrupted and, in some cases, oxygen levels can drop overnight. Especially watch for snoring, restless sleep, teeth grinding, unusual sleep positions, or waking up tired along with the mouth breathing. #airway #mouthbreathing

My 3-year-old son has always slept with his mouth open. He has been ill very frequently and has had his tonsils and adenoids removed, ear tubes inserted, and both his lip tie and tongue tie released.
Despite these procedures, he is always tired, and I am concerned that he may not be breathing properly, especially during sleep.
I would like to have him thoroughly assessed to find out why he consistently sleeps with his mouth open and is always tired. Could this be related to sleep-disordered breathing, obstructive sleep apnea, or another underlying problem?
Where in Denmark can I get him examined by a specialist who has experience with young children and these symptoms?

I don’t think there is an airway specialist in the uk. My 12 year old snores-sleeps with mouth open-diagnosed ASD/adhd-always yawning like he’s had no sleep but has at least 11hrs.

My son does this. He has sleep apnea and huge tonsils that block his airway but his ENT specialist suggested to wait until he’s 3 to have them removed because most times it goes away and doesn’t want him to go through it so young. So, now we are just going for check ups until he turns 3 next June.
