@redballoonfeedinghope: This all started after my dad took his life (atleast me doing this raw level of outreach) in 2022. My best friend had raised a GoFundMe after my dad passed to help me pay for his funeral and everything else- and just get by as I was in a huge bind at that moment. I had just cashed it out at around $12k and to me that felt like 1m. I felt such a sense of guilt “I didn’t do anything to deserve this” and I’m not really sure why. That same morning- I was driving along the beltway on a normal route and I saw a woman with an INFANT and two toddlers begging at an underpass. When I tell you my heart was crushed (especially being a mother myself) I turned that car around so fast. I don’t remember exactly what situation she was in- but I remember it being really bad and it was extremely hard to even look at. I told her to wait there, went to the grocery store and came back with anything I think those babies (and her) needed. I couldn’t imagine being in that position and thought to myself, “look at the amount of money you got, eating a hot breakfast and she’s crying on the street for help. Shame.” The next day I bought chick-fil-a breakfast and went to every underpass I could find. Not everyone is receiving and that’s okay. But for the people who are and need it- we’re here. You never know what small act of giving can do for someone mentally and how it might change their life. After all, that’s what we’re looking for right? Not only to help these people with necessities but to help them MENTALLY become inspired to have strength and trust god to lead them out of their situation and do the work.
