Ever since I found out that on the OG version Debbie Allen intended to make a storyline where Kimberly Reese, THEE Kimberly Reese, gets pregnant and becomes a single mother, I haven’t looked at that show that same way since. I could see the programming too clearly.

As soon as they had the male love interest snatch a wig from one of the female characters, I turned it off.

Oh, so this is really a “Grown’ish” reboot, and NOT “A Different World “ 🤔

I couldn't make it past ep 1 cause of the acting 😭. No one is talking about it, it seems so disney channel-ish to me

They are trying to form the minds of young women to accept anything because that’s just their destiny. Sad!

It’s a hard watch for me because why is the flirting in these shows never intellectual? It’s always straight to over-sexualizing

I instantly thought about “ To all the boys I’ve loved Before” smh. Our stories are never happily ever after

I thought Jalen was Bi from the jump bc it really was unclear which way he was swinging. Imo

No best friend of mine male or female would be competing with me over anything, much less a man.

The messaging is in the media. Black women and girls don’t get whimsy. We don’t get fantasy. We don’t get happily ever after no matter what we do that messaging is constantly in the media and it normalizes the abuse and the harm that we endure. I’m so glad I saw this video because I was going to watch this show and now I know better. Netflix is notorious for normalizing Black women and girls pain. My membership just lapsed, and I will not be renewing it.

It's why I refuse to watch ANY of these so-called reboots of black shows. Competing for BM is a humiliation and trauma ritual. Hard PASS!🙄 Opt out ladies!

It's so weird and It seems to come back to the conversation where many Bw said they don't want to deal with Bi men and the response seems to be BW are homophobic instead of we are just protecting ourselves.

I thought I was the only one. It really bothered me how they did Hazel. She just won but of course they had to “ humble her “ by making Jalen gay and having her gay best friend sleep with him. This was a humiliation ritual.🙄
