@mothershipsg: ACRES told Mothership that protections against animal cruelty must apply regardless of whether an animal is a pet or a commonly encountered wild bird. "Being a mynah does not make their suffering any less real, nor should it make cruelty any less serious." The Singapore animal welfare group has called for the incident to be thoroughly investigated and for an appropriate penalty if an offence is established. In a statement to Mothership, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) said it's aware of the videos and was troubled by the "apparent intentional nature of the act" as the mynah appeared to have been deliberately restrained as a form of punishment. As the original post is no longer publicly accessible, SPCA said it was "unable to independently establish the identity of those involved or verify the full circumstances" of the incident. It has since referred the case to the National Parks Board (NParks) for investigation and will provide any available information that may assist in establishing what happened and whether further action is warranted. I get it that mynah birds are annoying they would sneak in to the house if windows are opened and shit after eating food left unattended in the kitchen and worst they might make a hole at the aircon compressor to build a house but this is a little too much
