Please put a smoke alarm in your garage as well. We had a fire in our garage from a rechargeable battery. We would not have woken up in time to safely get my son out whose bedroom is above the garage if our little dog hadn’t alerted us. She just kept barking at 2 in the morning and wouldn’t stop. I finally heard a noise in the garage and when I opened the door it was engulfed in flames. Everyone got out safely. The entire garage was lost. God saved our son that night.

I highly recommend getting water/moisture detectors and placing them everywhere a pipe could leak. Slow leaks can cause such devastating damage.
