@dancango3: A cruise ship worker once told me he made around $3 an hour, and I’ve never forgotten it. Many cruise ship crew members work 7 days a week for months at a time, often spending 3+ months away from home. Many ships are registered outside the U.S., so U.S. minimum-wage laws don’t necessarily apply the way passengers might expect. Yes, those salaries may go much further in some workers’ home countries, but after seeing how hard cruise ship employees work every single day to make our vacations special, I still think they deserve more. ❤️ #CruiseShipWorkers #CruiseShipCrew #CruiseShipSalary #CruiseLife #CruiseCrew
$3/hour for 24 hours is $72 a day. $72 a day is $504 in a week or $2160 a month with free food and drinks with a free place to sleep everyday. I’m pretty sure that sounds like the same accommodation that the military has

Hi :
They get the free housing a food and accommodation. I mean I agree they should make more but it’s not like they are paying to live there.

$3 per hour is huge in their country. For that amount of money, there are hundreds possibly thousands of available applicants.

They work 10-16 hours a day if they got paid 30 dollars per hour and that would be nearly 400-500 dollars a day and that would be be a 107k a year your ticket would skyrocket to 12k per person to pay their employees 30 an hour

Yea that’s not true. I interviewed for a cruise ship once and the pay was $16/hr plus room and board, 2 off days and a meal package. Plus full health insurance and life insurance.

I get that its bad pay but when u consider that on top of that they have free food, water, showers, a bed etc its actually more reasonable. When u dont have to spend that $3 on anything at all it totals up quickly

i agree they should be making more but most ships are based in other countries so they don’t have to pay usa minimum wage, they also hire from other small countries like the philippines where the money they make is a decent amount in their country
