Say sex is off the table for the foreseeable future. Right there, you'll filter out a lot of scumbags. Of the "nice guys" that remain, most will let the mask slip within six months. If he's still with you after six months and genuinely seems to be a good dude, he probably is.

They’re not always a terrible person. they can b sweet and still not show up how you want them to. Doesn’t make them a terrible person and I’m more afraid of that bc it’s harder to leave people that aren’t bad people than it is to leave terrible people.
