@lesliejadegrantham: A MAN’S STRENGTH IS NEVER VIOLENCE — WALK AWAY. Tonight I want to talk about something serious — violence against women. And I’m not going to stand here pretending I’ve been perfect. When I was younger, around the time my daughter was born, I slapped my partner. Another few occasions in my life I have got angry enough to push a woman. I regret it. I own it. There is no excuse for it. Completely no excuse !!!! I also watched my own mother go through horrific violence, something that no mother or woman should endure , I’ve seen what that shit can do to a woman and to the people around her. Including the hurt and stress it put on me not being big enough at the time to protect her the way I wanted to . 😢 Now I look at my wife. I look at my daughter. I look at the women around us, and see how much it’s needed for them to feel safe at all times … Men — our strength should make the people we love feel SAFE, not scared. Relationships can get toxic. Arguments can get heated. People can hurt each other with words. There are good and bad people of both sexes. But if it gets to that point — walk the fuck away. You don’t prove you’re a man by overpowering a woman. You prove it through self-control. Responsibility. Protection. And knowing when to walk away. I can’t change things I’ve done in my past. But I can own them, speak about them and hopefully make another bloke think before one moment of anger changes two lives forever. Have a super cracker, safe weekend everyone. Love each other.
