@aurizn: What’s more appropriate than being told by the Terminator himself how to terminate your robots? 💀 - Figure CEO Brett Adcock asked the internet what to do with its retiring F.02 fleet, only for Arnold Schwarzenegger to reply: “You should melt them.” Whether that exchange was quite as spontaneous as it looked, Arnold eventually joined the stunt himself. - And these weren’t just prototypes. Figure 02 has six cameras, five-hour battery life, can carry up to 25kg and has 16 degrees of freedom in each hand. The robots spent 11 months working 10-hour shifts at BMW’s Spartanburg factory, handling over 90,000 parts and helping build more than 30,000 BMW X3s. - With the newer F.03 taking over, Figure decided to destroy the old fleet rather than dismantle them. No foundry they approached in the US or Mexico wanted lithium-ion robots thrown into their furnaces, so they eventually found one willing to do it in Finland. - And yes, they recreated Terminator 2: Arnold lowered one F.02 into molten steel with the famous thumbs-up, while the others were trained to jump in themselves.
