For decades, a strange name has circulated through conspiracy theories about our Solar System: Nibiru. According to the legend, Nibiru—sometimes called Planet X—is an enormous hidden planet traveling on a long, unusual orbit through the darkness beyond the known planets. The most disturbing versions of the story claim it eventually returns toward the inner Solar System. And when it does… its immense gravity could supposedly disturb planetary orbits, trigger catastrophic changes on Earth, or even bring the mysterious world dangerously close to us. Some believers have attempted to connect Nibiru with ancient Mesopotamian writings and claim that humanity once knew about a “12th planet” that modern civilization somehow forgot. But there’s one major problem: Astronomers have found no evidence that this catastrophic version of Nibiru exists. NASA has repeatedly explained that a large planet approaching Earth would already be detectable by astronomers—and likely visible long before any supposed encounter. Scientists are searching for evidence of possible undiscovered planets in the distant outer Solar System, including the hypothetical Planet Nine, but that scientific hypothesis is completely different from the doomsday Nibiru story. Still, the legend survives. Because beyond Neptune lies an enormous region of darkness containing countless objects we have never visited. And somewhere beyond everything visible in the night sky… there may still be worlds humanity hasn’t discovered yet. #fyp - @maia_shops
