That is the American life though. Freedom of religion, beliefs, practices. Come here, work hard, embrace the social and cultural norms and still hold onto yours too. America is the “melting pot” and so many people have forgotten that.

This is a big issue for the children of immigrants; the children are raised in the culture of the country they were born in yet the parents expect them to act like they were raised in the old country that they were from.

I swear this mentality in a lot of parents is so broken. "You're not thinking about US!" They make you feel guilty, making it sound like you hate them, or don't care about them at all, when in reality it tears kids apart. Behaving this way makes kids think the have to choose between their parents and being their own person. It shouldn't be a conflict. How about parents be the actual adult and accept their kids? If they don't agree with their choices, be fucking civil and don't implode your relationship with your kid and wonder why they don't talk or come to visit all the time.
