@lexpulseug: .Education is supposed to open doors, create opportunities, and empower the next generation. But when tuition fees and additional university charges become increasingly difficult for students and their families to manage, an important question arises: Who speaks for the student? This is where the fight for fair and accessible to all students come from different backgrounds, families, and financial circumstances. Yet they share a common goal: to obtain quality education and build a better future. The cost of pursuing that dream should therefore remain a matter worthy of open discussion, responsible representation, and constructive engagement. This campaign is about raising the student voice. It is about asking questions that matter: Are tuition fees affordable? Are students adequately informed about the charges they are expected to pay? Are additional fees reasonable and transparent? What can universities and students do together to make higher education more accessible? It is not a call for conflict. It is a call for dialogue, accountability, representation, and solutions. The student should not feel powerless when facing financial challenges. Students deserve representatives who are willing to listen to their concerns, understand the realities they face, and bring those concerns to the appropriate authorities through lawful and constructive channels. Fair tuition does not mean compromising quality. It means creating a system where students can pursue quality education without unnecessary financial barriers and where decisions affecting them are communicated transparently.#legalrebel#isaacsem#ugandacristian#kampalainternationaluniversity#fyp

The narrative of guys going to private universities being different just pisses me off. We all came to university to study, succeed and grow our careers, so why complain that someone doing the same course as you, but at a private university, spends more when the government subsidises your education at a public university? If we look at value and affordability, this doesn't start now. It goes through our education system, from primary school to university. Why did most of us go to Greenhill, City Parents and so forth? Why didn't we settle for Nakasero, Kitante and other government schools? Why were our parents willing to fork out the extra cash? Because they believed the extra money was worth it. Now I come out of A-Level and maybe I don't want to do what the government university has given me. You want me to stay because, "Oh, go to this prestigious university," after doing a course I probably didn't want. Let's say I wanted to be an engineer and the cut-off is 19 points. What do I do? Stay and do Computer Science because I qualify, or go to another university where I can pursue what I actually want? If my parents are okay with it, they'll gladly pay tuition to help me achieve my dreams instead of doing something I don't like. Then there is how public and private universities operate. Public universities are subsidised, so the government covers much of their basic operations. A private university has to cover those costs through its own revenue. If revenue falls short, activities can be affected. How do you tell a lecturer, "I can't pay you in June because all the students are off semester and we have no money"? If we want affordable tuition and value for money, the government needs to take its role in education seriously. Complaining about what private university students pay doesn't solve the bigger issue. Private investors are trying to fill gaps where the government hasn't fully delivered. A private university student isn't different from you. They're still a student trying to get an education and build a career.
