@itsfarkhana: Divorce taught me that healing wasn't just about getting over a person. It was about stopping the habits that were keeping me stuck. So here are some of the things I stopped doing after divorce — and what I did instead: 1. I stopped checking what he was doing. Every time you check their socials, ask someone about them or look for information, you're giving something you've left access to your present. Mute. Unfollow. Block if you need to. You don't need another update. You need distance. 2. I stopped explaining my divorce to everybody. You don't need to convince people that leaving was justified. Choose a tiny circle of people you trust. Everyone else can survive without the full story. 3. I stopped treating being alone like an emergency. I started doing ordinary things alone. Coffee. Shopping. Driving somewhere. Sitting quietly at home. The goal wasn't to become someone who needed nobody. It was to learn that my own company was safe too. 4. I stopped waiting for confidence to come back. Confidence didn't magically appear one morning. I rebuilt it by keeping small promises to myself. Apply for the job. Go for the walk. Sort the finances. Wear the outfit. Do the thing you keep postponing. Confidence is often evidence. Give yourself evidence that you can trust yourself again. 5. I stopped avoiding my money. This was a BIG one. After divorce, I had around £30k of debt. Ignoring the numbers didn't make them smaller — it just made them scarier. Write down: what comes in → what goes out → what you owe → minimum payments → what's left. You cannot rebuild financial security around numbers you're frightened to look at. 6. I stopped spending to prove I was doing well. You don't need a revenge wardrobe, expensive dinners and a perfect-looking life to prove divorce didn't destroy you. Sometimes rebuilding looks incredibly boring: Paying debt. Saving £50. Cooking at home. Working. Starting again. Quiet progress is still progress. 7. I stopped making divorce my identity. I am divorced. But I'm also a mother. A wife. A finance professional. A business owner. A woman who loves beautiful clothes and quiet coffee. Divorce is a chapter of my story. It isn't the title of my life. 8. And eventually, I stopped asking when my old life was coming back. I started asking: “What can I build from here?” That question changed everything. If you're newly divorced, don't put pressure on yourself to reinvent your entire life this month. Pick ONE area: 🤎 your faith 🤎 your finances 🤎 your confidence 🤎 your career 🤎 your health 🤎 your home And take one small action this week that future-you will be grateful for. You don't need to become the woman you were before divorce. You get to discover the woman who comes after it. Save this for the day starting again feels too heavy.
