In the beginning he told Lowen his trauma was pulling his daughter out the water but later when she dies it's set up he was on a trip. And Lowen never realized that? The whole plot is focused on if Verity did or didn't do it and never explained his "I've seen worse" story

I normally hate the “THE BOOK IS BETTER” phrase cause i understand movies need adapting but genuinely the book is soo much better. Way more detailed, WAYYYY creepier and disturbing, they removed multiple disturbing plot lines, and way more ambiguous on whose telling the truth. If you liked the film and haven’t tead the book, the book will blow your mind, if you have read the book, the film falls flat and anticlimactic.

The ending leaves it open for you to decide whether or not you think she did it. That’s the whole point of the ending. Leaves the audience or reader with a lot of questions

I think the letter was the truth, still think girly was a bit disturbed to write what she did, but it makes sense especially with the moves Jeremy makes after he kills her 😅

I have a question for those who have read the book. In the movie, the ending led me to believe that the reality was what was described in the letter; however, I noticed that in the scene where the child is eating jam, it almost looks like he hurts himself on purpose (as if doing so were the very thing his mother advised him to do to stop Lawen from asking further questions). If that were the case, the affection she claims to have for her children in the letter would be completely undermined, because what kind of mother would encourage her child to hurt himself? No one would. Are these points clarified better in the book?

My husband and I just saw this movie, he hated it, and I loved it! Psychological thriller’s aren’t for everyone and that’s ok, but I was entertained and the ending was so good!
