yall didn’t read the book and it shows. we can have complex women characters but the WHOLE point of her character is she’s a metaphor for satan disguised as a serpent in what? THE GARDEN OF EDEN. if she was a man yall wouldnt sympathize with her.

Guys two things can be true at the same time, Cathy is evil AND there may be reasons why she turned out that way. The point of the book isnt that shes inherently evil just because, its that she’s evil bc she rejects the moral responsibility of CHOOSING to be good. The whole point of the book is that people have the power to choose good or evil.

She chose herself at a time when doing that as a woman was seen as evil that’s all. I like her 🤷🏻‍♀️

Really really??? This women is the definition of EVIL, if you read the book you would know what Kath is , she’s the devil himself, I haven’t watch the series cause I’m afraid they will ruin everything

Adams' "love" wasn't actually pure love,, it was idealization plus he never actually listened to what she wanted, only did as he pictured it.

The whole point of the novel is to choose your own path. She did. She wouldn’t let anyone choose it for her.

She’s a complex character and I really felt for her at times. And others I was like “oh she’s super manipulative.” It was hard to know if she truly cared for anyone at all.

while cathy is “evil” in the book we have to remember who wrote the book and the time period to me it read very misogynistic that places every ounce of blame on her

Personally I think they tried to spin her as more empathetic (SA experiences) than the book which I appreciate as a modern interpretation instead of the lowkey patriarchal narrative the book paints. Most of the important "good" characters r men and the devil is a woman smh 🙄.

the wrost part was seeing she had adam's last name on her grave. she basically worked all her life to be free from man just to be untitled by one at the very end

Cathy never wanted to feel powerless again. She struggled to accept the very love she desperately needed because vulnerability meant risking being hurt again. Instead, she chose control as a means of protecting herself. But in the end, her need for control became her own prison, leaving her unable to confront the pain, guilt, and reflection of herself she had spent her entire life trying to escape.

y cant yall just let women be irredeemably evil? sure, its nice seeing a more modern take on the story, but sometimes i wish we'd just let women be straight-up evil antagonists. i see so many ppl reducing cathy to a love triangle that it feels like they dont even take her seriously as a villain. 🙄 yall r sooo boringgg
