@pinknews: Jonathan Bailey is Dracula, Ella Purnell is Mina and Maggie Gyllenhaal is Professor Van Helsing in Audible’s star-studded new reimagining of Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’. The immersive, full-cast audio drama puts a new spin on the classic gothic horror, with Purnell’s Mina taking a much more active role. Rather than simply becoming Dracula’s victim, this Mina is hunting him, determined to outsmart the vampire as their relationship becomes an increasingly intense psychological game of cat and mouse. “She's not simply a victim in this story — she's actively hunting Dracula herself,” Purnell said in a statement, adding that she loved the way the adaptation gives Mina “real agency” and puts her “at the heart of the story”. Bailey, meanwhile, takes on the iconic role of Dracula, saying that “With a character like Dracula, every inflexion matters. You’re building an entire world through your voice, discovering the darkest corners of who he is.” The cast also includes Aimee Lou Wood as Lucy, Louis Partridge as Jonathan, David Jonsson as Dr Seward, Lesley Manville as Mrs Westenra, Johnny Flynn as Renfield and Francis Lovehall as Arthur, with Maggie Gyllenhaal taking on Van Helsing. Now available on Audible, the reimagining of ‘Dracula’ is directed by ‘Pet Sematary’ filmmaker Mary Lambert and features an original score by Ilan Eshkeri. #Dracula #EllaPurnell #LGBTQIA #BookTok #audiobook
