I really want to read if we were villains but I’ve heard so many people say if you’ve read the secret history first it’s gonna be really underwhelming ☹️☹️

Try society of lies! It’s more contemporary but still in the spectrum of academia thriller!

What about katabasis? I looooved the poppy war trilogy but I’m finding katabasis a bit underwhelming! I should probably push through

im currently reading The Shards by Bret Easton Ellis (author of American Psycho) apparently he is close to Donna Tartt and went to school with her so yeah the story is pretty much like The Secret History but slasher 😏

I genuinely hated tsh so much and it made me super sad, I love dark academia and everyone seems to love tsh so much and I was so excited to join the hype only to end up in a reading slump bc I hated it so much 🥲🥲 What is wrong with meeee why can't I also love it 💔

I’ve never heard of Dorian grey being called dark academia before, interesting ! I love tssh. Imo engleby by Sebastian faulks is a good option with some similar vibes too

The Maidens - i actually expected more about the girls usually and the dark academia around it but yeah no. It barely shows it sorry but i do love thriller so i still gave it 4.5/5
