@metaphysiko: I didn’t always hate eating at Wendy’s. Actually, it used to be one of my favorite places to go after school. Until one night, I noticed something sitting in the booth behind me. It was around 9 PM, and the restaurant was almost empty. My friend and I ordered our food and sat near the window. While we were eating, I heard someone say my name. I turned around. Nobody was there. I looked toward the booth behind us. There was an empty tray sitting on the table. I ignored it. A few minutes later, I heard my name again. This time, it came from the bathroom hallway. My friend didn’t hear anything. Then I noticed something strange. The security camera above the counter was pointed directly at our table. I joked about it, but my friend suddenly stopped smiling. He pointed at the camera. “Why is someone standing behind us?” I turned around. Nobody was there. Then my phone buzzed. I had received a photo from an unknown number. It was a picture of me and my friend sitting at the table. The picture had been taken from directly behind us. I looked toward the hallway. Still nothing. Then the lights flickered. A worker came from the back and told everyone they were closing early. We got up to leave. As I walked toward the door, I heard someone whisper, “Don’t forget your food.” I looked back. There was a man sitting in the booth behind us. His head was lowered. I thought he was another customer. Then he slowly looked up. It was my face. Exactly my face. My friend grabbed my arm and pulled me outside. We ran to his car. When we looked back through the window, the booth was empty. The next day, I went back with my mom because I wanted to prove to myself that I hadn’t imagined it. I asked the cashier about the booth. She looked confused. I told her what happened. She lowered her voice. “That booth hasn’t been used in years.” I laughed nervously. “Why?” She looked toward the back of the restaurant. “Someone died there.” I didn’t say anything. Then she added, “The cameras sometimes show someone sitting there.” I asked if she knew what the person looked like. She stared at me. “Nobody knows.” Then she looked at the security monitor. Her face went pale. I followed her eyes. The screen showed the restaurant from above. My mom and I were standing at the counter. But in the booth behind us… someone was sitting there.
