Molto: a lot, very. Tanto: so many, so much. No?

In Italian, molto and tanto both mean "a lot" or "very," but they have slightly different uses: They are interchangeable before nouns. For example: "Ho molta fame" or "Ho tanta fame" (I am very hungry). Tanto feels more informal and emotional. Before adjectives and adverbs, molto is preferred. For example: “sono molto stanco" (I am very tired). With comparatives you have to use molto before words like meglio (better), peggio (worse), più (more), or meno (less). For example: "Sto molto meglio" (I feel much better). It’s more simple if you are fluent in Italian, but don’t worry, we will not notice this error as you imagine 🤗🤗🤗

I think of molto being like “a lot” and tanto “very much” like if you say “ti amo tantissimo” or “c’è molto libre”

Learning all of that just for natives to say: “Ho strafame” instead of “molta” or “tanta”😂

natives just swap them around but "molto" is generally more than "tanto"

HAHAHAHAHA… well, actually, it’s pretty easy. Let’s say that in Italian, we tend to use “tanto” more than “molto” when referring to specific quantities. For example, “voglio tante mele” and “voglio molte mele” are both correct, but the first one sounds more natural in everyday speech. In many cases, they can be used interchangeably, although it depends on the context 🥰🥰
