my 2018 Toyota camry needed this tool on rear calipers so I rented tool from O'Reilly. i also remember my 1978 Lincoln continental used this tool too so yes some cars need this tool from my personal experience.

Yeah, almost every vehicle I’ve ever worked on doesn’t have those little threads in the brake piston. 6 inch C clamp brake pads push it in the old way. Been doing it for years.

not true. most vehicles are just regular pistons . some have pistons that need rotated, but not most.
