@werner_bronkhorst: ‘Early Birdie’ was one of the last artworks I made as part of my ‘HIGH’ collection. I love making golf paintings and where I live in Bondi, there is a golf course that overlooks the ocean with seaplanes flying overhead from Rose Bay all the time. It’s that exact scene I wanted to capture here. The wordplay on ‘Birdie’ was to reference golf but also the big mechanical bird in the sky. I think it’s important that something and serious as art and golf can also become fun and enjoyable. This is one of few artworks that will be for sale after my exhibition in Berlin has concluded. It’s so exciting having so many people see this artwork in person already because scale plays a big role in everything I do and you absolutely need to get up close to see just how much detail I try get in each painting.
