This is pretty misleading. Octop itself may be free and self-hosted, but the AI model doing the actual work usually isn’t. If you connect it to OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, etc., you still need an account/API key and you still pay for usage. You can run a local model with something like Ollama and avoid subscription/API fees, but then your own hardware has to run the model, and that is absolutely not the same thing as magically getting ChatGPT/Claude-level AI for free. So “no subscription, no cloud account, no monthly fee” is only true under a specific local-model setup. Saying it “replaces a paid AI subscription completely” without explaining that is clickbait bullshit.
