Seriously speaking, how is this the employer’s responsibility and not the agency problem? Its clearly not a ‘workplace’ injury, rather its a personal one. If u get the same situation while working on-site in a company do u think they will cover the bill?? No. Especially when its 41k$? And not just some small common sickness 🫠. Be honest, name a company is willing to pay 41k to a non-workplace injury worker who just started working 2 months ago. Im willing to pay for common sickness but 41k medical bill seriously?

Thats set of rules on domestic helper is just unreasonable, really need to change. Now everything is employer responsibility. They get pregnant employer kenna, they get into nonsense outside also employer fault. Now sick but with insurance still need employer to cover 1st.

I think some don’t understand that the condition when lung collapse is called pneumothorax. And it’s spontaneous. There’s no way to predict or prevent it no matter how many check ups you do. It happens no matter how fit or healthy you are.

I'm get sick and admitted to hospital because my employer give me not enough food,after I out from hospital,my employer terminate my contract.very sad.i really respect employer that still use their helper after their helper recover from sick,from surgery.

it is really unfair to the Singapore employer. While not having any domestic help in the meantime, and she still has to bear the bill just 2mths in. And the agency does not have to bear any responsibility ? I m also curious abt the hospital. When they cleared the helper’s lungs and discharge her, how is it that the 2nd lung collapse so shortly after ?

I wouldn't care cos I will take my family as first priority, send helper to agency handle, termination on employee contract if you work for a company, will company cover your all hospital bill, no right
