Men should save their wives from the mental load of household management by making a detailed list of every chore their wives have to do and on which days they are to do them. Make the list as detailed as possible.

The problem is, they expect it to be their standard and their standard only. So one might see a pile of clothes and think that it could be left another day for a larger wash load, and she might think "no this is giving me anxiety it must be done NOW" and she just assumes her way must be correct and final by fiat

I guarantee if you assigned your wife things to do they would ask 100 questions. Which also begs the question, imagine if we did that to our wives???

Yeah because my husband can read my mind 😆 I’m sorry after my husband working 80 hours a week the last thing i want him to come home is to worry about the house when I’m here all day. Every single day he will come home to a clean house and food in the table

Some of these middle managers are making their way into construction as project managers. Never a superintendent that knows how to actually build and schedule. Always with a chip on their shoulder.

I am not that good at cleaning. I do try but I am not good at it. I do get my two sons to help and tell them that they are not helping their mom, they are doing it because it is their house too.

Physical work and mental load are not the same damned thing. It takes an insane level of separation from the physical world to think that having to remember to do something is most of the effort in a given task.

the whole fucking "I don't want them to 'help me around the house' blah blah" annoys the shit outta me because it IS helping. whether they're supposed to or should do it or not, if them doing it takes some of your workload away it's helping.

My only beef with my husband is that he’s suddenly wanted to be in the kitchen with me when I’m cooking dinner. That’s my domain and I don’t want him underfoot. He started doing this in our 33rd year of marriage btw! I’m trying to teach him how to chop vegetables safely tho instead of complaining about it on TT.

I don't want my wife to help me with my job. I want her to know what work I brought home with me and just do it.

If he works from home that's a valid critique. If he leaves and doesn't spend all day there, then he's not nearly as likely to notice. Also, just write it down. It's called the honey do list. If you're the home manager then yes it's your job to keep a list of things that need completed that are outside your scope of expertise or skill set.
