@channelnewsasia: A Taiwan coast guard patrol vessel drove away two Chinese fishing boats near a disputed island in the South China Sea. Local media reported that Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration on Thursday (Oct 1) issued warnings to the two vessels near Dongsha Island, which Taiwan administers and which China also claims. One boat sailed away but the second refused to do so, the coast guard said. The patrol vessel used water cannon at the boat, first from about 200m away, and again as it gradually approached the boat. After the second boat lost power, the coast guard gave hot meals to its crew at their request, then towed the boat away and handed it over to a Chinese work vessel early Friday morning.
