Couldn’t they possibly combine the new dire wolves and the real ones? Wouldn’t they be way more similair

“It’s not a dire wolf” it has the same DNA sequence as a dire wolf, looks like one, same mannerisms. It’s a dire wolf 🙃. They used grey wolf dna as the BASE to modify it and change to to match the original dire wolf DNA because they need living dna to do so they cannot make dead dna alive again but they can copy it. Basic fucking science

People genuinely pmo, “it’s not a dire wolf” it is undistinguishly physically the same in size, shape, weigtt hot, bone densities, the only reason the other thousands of grey wolf genes were untouched was because the dire wolf already likely had them or very similar to them, or are needed for modern disease, bacteria, parasite infections

People need to realize we're never gunna have exact dire wolves. But this is a modified gray wolf with every characteristic of a dire wolf so while genetically their different physically they look the exact same

instead of trying to bring back what's lost, why not trying to preserve the species already at the cusp of extinction?

The amount of comments that are commenting on this without looking anything up about Romulus and Remus in comparison to ancient dire wolves sizes and characteristics are insane. Dire wolves were big, but not in the way most people think. Research. These two have almost hit target of what dire wolves height and weight were, and genetically they are over 99% identical to dire wolf DNA. They are about 20% bigger than a grey wolf which is how big a dire wolf actually was on average.
