@cgtneurope: Firecrackers were thrown at riot police in Pantin, a suburb of Paris, on Friday as student protesters demanded better learning conditions and increased school funding. Around 400 schools across France were expected to remain closed as demonstrations over education grievances turned violent in some areas. Students say schools face teacher shortages, overcrowded classrooms and deteriorating buildings. The protests began in the Paris region last month before spreading nationwide, with dozens injured and hundreds of arrests reported. The government has criticised the protests as irresponsible while acknowledging that problems in high schools need to be addressed. The demonstrations have become a political flashpoint as the government faces opposition to spending cuts announced in its proposed 2027 budget on Thursday. #France #Paris #Education #StudentProtests #Politics
