But this gets you an automatic fail on a motorcycle test — and there are good reasons for that. When your foot leaves the peg, your centre of gravity moves up by tens of centimetres. You're only pushing down on the seat with your backside. The bike wobbles more, and you have less control over it. No foot on the peg also means no thigh grip on the bike. So what do you do? You grab the handlebars. But your hands are supposed to be light — you should be steering with your body, not your arms. And honestly? Anyone watching from the outside can see it straight away. If the technique isn't right in slow corners, it isn't right in fast ones either — and that's where it becomes genuinely dangerous. A good riding course fixes this. You'll drop the habit, and those technical corners will suddenly feel a lot more natural.
