@theventure: Every Jersey Mike's gives away a whole day's sales. One day every March, the shops hand over everything they take that day to local charities, the full sales and not just the profit. The month built around it raised more than $30 million for over 200 charities in 2025, and $143 million since it started in 2011. This year every shop put the month behind one cause, the Special Olympics USA Games. The idea is older than the chain. Growing up on the Jersey Shore, Peter Cancro watched two local business owners, Bob Hoffman of Hoffman's Ice Cream and Jack Baker of the Lobster Shanty, give to youth teams, first responders and anything else that helped the town, without asking for anything back. When he went into business himself, he copied them. "Well, this is what we're going to do," he said later, "and we started the mission statement then: 'To give and make a difference in someone's life.!"
