But in all of that conversation, I feel like the 19-year-old at the center of this case is being forgotten. Her name was Colleen Slemmer. According to testimony from the medical examiner, Colleen suffered an extensive number of injuries before her death. There were wounds across her back, arms, chest, stomach, throat, a face, including a large wound to her neck and numerous additional injuries to her throat. A pentagram had also been carved into her chest, and she had defensive injuries consistent with trying to protect herself. The medical examiner testified that Colleen was still alive while these injuries were being inflicted. She ultimately died after being repeatedly struck in the head with a piece of asphalt, suffering catastrophic head injuries. And according to testimony, after Colleen’s death, Pike kept a piece of her skull as a souvenir.
