I still blame some SPL clubs for relying too heavily on foreign players while leaving our national players on the bench. Without regular 90-minute matches at club level, our national players lose match fitness, sharpness and confidence. They are less prepared to sustain intensity, make quick decisions and perform under pressure, which inevitably weakens Singapore’s performance when they come together for international matches. This is not merely a club issue ,it directly affects the national team. Limited club playing time reduces the quality of the players available to Singapore, disrupts their development and makes it harder for the national side to build consistency and cohesion.
