@careercoachjp: In Japan, being too direct can easily come across as rude↓ So at first, you learn to soften everything: smile, read the air, avoid saying exactly what you think, and add a little 「そうですね…」 before answering 😂 But after living here for years, you get tired of constantly adjusting not only your language, but your personality. And your real character slowly comes back: Question asked → direct answer. Maybe that’s the final stage of living abroad: understanding the culture, respecting it, but still being yourself.
