The attack took place in May 2022 following a night out. CCTV footage captured Singh on a street physically holding the woman up as he led her towards an address in Derby, while she had no clothing on her lower half and was barefoot. The victim woke the following morning disorientated and lying in an unfamiliar street. Her underwear, shoes, and socks were missing, and she had been dressed in trousers that did not belong to her. Singh was subsequently traced, arrested, and charged with rape. He denied the offence, but a jury rejected his claims and convicted him following a Crown Court trial in July. On 17 September, the judge sentenced Singh to 12 years in prison, alongside an indefinite restraining order and lifetime registration on the Sex Offenders Register.
