I really feel you 😭 Working in the NHS can feel so similar sometimes, where the paperwork and box ticking seem to matter more to the higher ups than the actual meaningful work you’re doing. I get that some of it is there to protect everyone, but it’s so frustrating when it becomes the whole focus rather than the actual person in front of you. Honestly, you sound like you’d thrive as an OT! There are apprenticeships now too. I love being an OT, but ironically a lot of my experience has been realising there’s SO much paperwork and ticking boxes, when it was the human side and actually helping people that made me want to do it in the first place 🥲

Get the parents involved which could add a lot more weight. A parent-led petition would show that the concern isn’t coming from just one person, but from a wider group asking for change.

The people in the comments aren’t being honest with you. It’s a safeguarding and GDPR issue, and these policies SHOULD be taken very seriously. You seem really great, but unless there was formal consent from the school and parents, it’s a problem.
