the ego does not disappear just because your interests become spiritual. it can survive meditation, discipline, fasting, philosophy and awakening language just as easily as it survives money, status or attention. it simply changes what it uses to feel separate. instead of needing to be richer, smarter or more impressive than everyone else, it can become attached to being more conscious, more awakened or more spiritually advanced. this is what makes the spiritual ego so difficult to recognise. the behaviour can look peaceful while the identity underneath is still saying, “this makes me somebody.” you can know every spiritual concept, speak about consciousness, understand nonduality and still quietly build another version of yourself that needs to be protected. the vocabulary changed, but the identification remained. real self realization moves in the opposite direction. it is not the construction of a better identity. it is seeing that every identity you can describe, defend or compare is still something appearing within awareness. the deeper this becomes clear, the less spirituality needs to make you special. truth stops becoming another possession of the ego and becomes something directly lived. awakening is not becoming the most enlightened character in the room. it is recognising what exists before the character, before the labels, before the need to become anything at all. that is where ego death begins, and where real inner freedom becomes possible. if you want to realise what you truly are and live with real inner freedom, the self-realization guide is in the link in bio. if it doesn’t show message me for access 💌 #consciousness #youarereality #nonduality #awakening #esoteric - @youarereality
