Lindsay Clancy sat stoically through another difficult day of testimony Thursday, as first responders described the devastating scene they encountered the night she killed her children and then attempted to take her own life. Near the end of an abbreviated day of testimony, prosecutors for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts attempted to cast doubt on Clancy's intent to harm herself, having paramedics point out that her self-inflicted wounds appeared only superficial and weren't even bleeding when they arrived. The line of questioning reaffirmed the prosecution's stance that Clancy didn't really intend to die by her own hand that night. Rather, the prosecution suggests her injuries were part of a devious and carefully planned scheme to escape the responsibilities of motherhood by killing her children and falsely blaming her actions on mental illness. Kevin Reddington, Clancy's defense attorney, countered by pointing out that a long time had passed since she injured herself when they arrived, and both natural coagulation of blood and the frigid winter temperatures could account for her wounds not actively bleeding. Earlier in the trial, Clancy's ex-husband testified their bedroom was covered in blood where Clancy had taken a knife to her neck and wrists prior to hurling herself out of a second-floor window, partially paralyzing herself in the process.
