While I’m over here upset because our childcare provider did not call me yesterday because my child was off all day… they told me at the end of the day. I said I would have rushed to pick her up. Y’all need to tell me!

I had a kid that was off all day. Her mom and I texted throughout the day about the child. She said she would come get her if needed. I told her it was up to her. I’m just informing you. Mom waited till co workers had breaks then came and got her early. Who wants their child sad and clearly not themselves at daycare suffering she was sick but not sick enough to be sent home. I understand parents need to work and make money to survive. But your child well being come first. Some parents act like their own child is the black plague can’t be around them to much

Parents don’t realize this is group care, a kid crying for HOURS is not normal. And it causes a huge disturbance for everyone

Yesterday one of my sweet boys had the WORST time after his nap, he was hysterical & had no more bottles. I could not get him to calm down so I texted mom and she said okay I’m on my way… arrived 2 hours later🙃

If my child is crying off and on for over two hours, I would hope to God that they call me far before that.

I don't have kids someone explain it to me in the comments but is that not your job to watch the children and take care of them when the parents aren't there what's the point of calling them you're supposed to be the pseudo parent while the parent isn't there??

Had a kid who's baseline is pretty mellow and easy-going have total meltdown tantrums over quite literally everything one day. At pick up Mom says "I haven't seen you in four days!" Oh...

I had a student whose behaviour was going downhill for a week or so. Tried to call mum, no response. After a couple of weeks of deteriorating behaviour I called grandma - “oh, Mum has been in rehab for a couple of weeks”. That would have been useful information!

I had a mom ask me to let her know if his behavior changes or anything about a month later I told her that for the past week he has been extra aggressive and not following directions she said what do you want me to do about that and rolled her eyes at me 😅

Yeah, it doesn’t stop after daycare. Some parents block the school’s number because from “drop off to pick up the kid is the school’s responsibility”

The way she asked the question about why daycare was calling her was disturbing. My first question would be is my child alright? If you ask that first question with an annoyance, then I have to question you as a person. I understand work is hard. I am a working mother. Getting away from work can be difficult, but if this is how some parents interact with daycare as if they’re bothering them that is weird. It makes you wonder how they treat the child at home as if the child is a minor inconvenience to their lives. The daycare could’ve been calling to say that the child had fallen and the child was hurt or the child had vomited, etc. Acting as if your child is an inconvenience in your life is so sad. Also, the fact that the father went out of town, and the child is upset is not telling everybody your private business. It is keeping daycare informed.

Some conversations can wait until pick up tbh.. I could understand if the child was hitting, kicking, biting, spitting, etc., then in those cases I think parents should be notified but simply because a child is emotional and having a bad day?? That can wait until pick up honestly.
