reMeMber — Ariana Grande remember is an unreleased Ariana Grande song from the recording sessions for thank u, next (2019). The song was originally considered for inclusion on the album and briefly appeared in the music video for “breathin”, in a scene that showed part of the process behind the project’s developing tracklist. The song represents one of the most intimate and personal pieces associated with the thank u, next era. Its themes revolve around absence, grief, memories, and the difficulty of letting go of someone who held an important place in your life. Rather than feeling like a conventional breakup song, remember feels more like a letter addressed to someone who is no longer there — a way of preserving their memory and acknowledging that, even after their physical absence, their presence can continue to remain a part of the life of the person left behind. Because of the context in which it was written and certain elements within the song, many fans have connected remember to Mac Miller. However, Ariana has never publicly confirmed directly that the song was specifically written about him, so this interpretation remains a fan perspective rather than a fact confirmed by Ariana herself. One of the most interesting aspects of remember is its connection to the overall concept of thank u, next. The album was created during a period of significant personal change for Ariana and explored themes such as love, loss, relationships, growth, and healing. remember would have presented an even more vulnerable side of that process. Despite being considered for the album, Ariana ultimately decided to leave the song off the final release. At the time, she explained to her fans that the song she had removed was too personal for her and that she did not feel ready to share it, promote it, or perform it publicly. “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored” eventually took the place remember would have occupied on the project. Another particularly meaningful detail surrounding the song is its connection to “It’s a Blue World” by The Four Freshmen, whose composition was used in remember. The same song was later sampled by Mac Miller in “Blue World”, something fans have found especially significant given the connection they often draw between remember and Mac. Because of all this, remember eventually became one of those songs that exists almost like a lost piece within the thank u, next universe — a song Ariana chose to keep private, but one that has gained a special meaning among those who continue to explore her unreleased music and archive. It is not simply a song that was left off an album. It is also a small fragment of a personal and creative period in Ariana’s life that never officially became part of her discography. #arianagrande #unreleased #thankunext #remrecords #foryoupage - @r.e.m_.records
