To all feminists and organizations defending women’s rights around the world:
Please hear the voices of Iraqi women.
Women in Iraq are facing growing concerns over their legal rights, particularly regarding the impact of the Jaafari Personal Status Code on marriage, divorce, inheritance, and child custody.
We are not fighting against a religion or a sect. We are demanding that women’s rights, dignity, and legal protection remain above discrimination.
We urge you to speak for us, amplify our voices, and stand with Iraqi women.
Please do not leave us alone.

🇮🇶Help us! In Iraq, women are allowed to marry as young as nine, and mothers are stripped of custody. If a mother refuses, she is imprisoned, even if the father is unfit to care for the child. Women are also not allowed to divorce their husbands; if they wish to do so, they must pay a sum of money. Furthermore, a husband may cheat on his wife, and she has no right to seek a divorce. Help us! Women are also killed simply for mistakes, and the sentence for the murderer is only three years in prison. Please Help us!

{ للبنات ارسلوا هدا الكلام لأي بلوقر اجنبيه تتكلم عن حقوق النساء الكلام بيننا مش حينفع } hey Please talk about Libyan women Our reality is being ignored
Women can be questioned, restricted and even prevented from traveling alone because they are women while authorities have imposed requirements on women traveling without a male escort
Libya still has NO standalone law protecting women from violence Women are not permitted to obtain travel documents on their own without a male guardian authorization last year a woman was prevented from obtaining a travel document simply because she did not wear a hijab Even more horrifying, under Article 424 of the Penal Code, a rapist can escape prosecution by marrying his victim
Women and girls face harassment, intimidation, violence, social control, and online abuse, while disappearances and cases of violence can disappear from public attention
Girls are exhausted from being told to stay silent while society protects its image instead of protecting them.
Please use your platform to talk about Libyan women. Listen to us. We need the world to know what is happening
الحمد لله على نعمة القانون الجعفري العادل
