@iowa.repair.shop: THIS SPINDLE FAILED THE TEST 👀 Back with the go/no-go gauges! This one shows exactly why checking the spindle matters. Where the bearing carries the load, that gauge slides right on. With the wear and damage we found, this one is getting cut off and replaced with a new stub shaft. We’re also going with a new preset ConMet hub to get this wheel end back together and on the road. #IowaRepairShop #TruckRepair #SpindleRepair #WheelEnd #DieselRepair #TruckingIndustry #OwnerOperator #MechanicTok

I wouldn’t bother, just monitor the adjustment. Especially with the pre set spacer hub and nuts

Is the wheel seal always going out the way you find this or what makes you look for the worn stub shaft?

New bearings cost $140 for both. Time to remove one hour labor if you want. New hub cost $600. Not really cost effective

Never replaced an entire hub. Takes me about 20 minutes to change out the races

Ian Jones :
Or just don’t be lazy and use an air hammer to get the races out, beat new ones in, get bearings, and give it a wheel seal. Bout 60% cheaper and it only takes an hour

I have a wheel seal out… I’m finding a small shop to fix it and get me home! Never again will I lose a load because you want me to fix on the spot! Totally bullshit! It will make it till they get home! Then I can have the down time at home, and have my mechanic fix!
