It's important for them that the home is warm, the food is tasty, and the finances are stable. This is a person of the home front. In a couple, they often divide roles: The social one pulls the couple out into the world: organizes gatherings, watches over their image, handles matters of status. The self-preservation one provides the foundation: plans the budget, creates coziness, reminds them that they need to eat and get enough sleep before an important event. Why are they drawn to each other? 1. Complementarity. The social type often lacks groundedness. They may float in the clouds of social ambition, forget about their health, or squander money for the sake of impressions. The self-preservation partner becomes their "anchor," giving a sense of security and stability that the So-type themselves often lacks. 2. Admiration. The self-preservation type may like the charisma and lightness of the social partner. The latter knows how to talk, how to be liked, how to get things done "with one phone call." For the Sp-type, who can sometimes be too cautious or closed off, this openness in their partner is a breath of fresh air. 3. Division of labor. They don't need to compete for the same niche. One builds social capital, the other material capital. If they come to an agreement, it's a very effective tandem. Where do the frictions arise?
