@littlemaneki: Let's protect them! Always use a clean, disposable or reusable bowl and pick it up when they finish. 🐾 Here's why you should always use a bowl: •Dental Damage: Chewing food mixed with dirt, sand, or asphalt grit causes severe tooth wear, fractured teeth, and painful gum infections. •Ingestion of Toxins: Cats swallow harmful urban chemical residues from the floor, such as motor oil, antifreeze, weed killers, and chemical fertilizers. •Parasites & Bacteria: Licking food off the dirt or pavement causes them to ingest fecal matter, worm eggs, and dangerous bacteria (like Salmonella). •Physical Injuries: They inadvertently swallow sharp pebbles, sand, or glass shards mixed with the food, leading to internal bleeding or choking. •Fatal Mold & Spoiled Food: Food on the ground absorbs moisture quickly, growing toxic mold (mycotoxins) that can fatally poison them. •Vulnerability: Eating with their heads glued to the floor reduces their situational awareness, making them easy targets for dog attacks or hostile people. 💡 How to feed invisibly and safely: • Use temporary surfaces: Place the food on a plate or a clean piece of cardboard. • Wait it out: Stay with the colony for 15–20 minutes while they eat. • Pack it up: Pick up all the containers and leftovers before you leave. Leaving food on the ground attracts rats, ants, and bad odors, which makes neighbors notice the cats even faster. A bowl that you pick up right after they eat leaves zero trace. The ground stays clean, the cats stay healthy, and the colony remains hidden! Old Deuteronomy says thank you for caring! Follow #littlemaneki #nonprofit #santuary for more!
