Illegal immigrants are not the same as immigrants here on a work visa. So long as we’re all paid the same wage and local people get priory (like in many countries), I don’t mind at all.

Let's just be honest, no one is applying for these jobs because they want big bucks with minimal work.

Americans do apply for those jobs but in big cities, small towns like this in America are not even considered by young American professionals, these are very technical jobs. It is a trend for first world countries, falling birth rate, aging population & lacking manpower in the country side...

Tons of Americans without jobs that would love to do that kind of work but can’t afford the education needed. Maybe more hospitals should offer in house training. Then you can train local community who want to live in those rural towns. Cost of college is what deters lots of qualified workers

I worked in the early 90s at a county hospital in a large city as a traveler where a large percentage of nurses were brought over from the Philippines because the hospital was old and nobody wanted to work there. They were definitely the majority. The best nurses ever!

You need to survive and we need to survive. As simple as that. Human nature. We all want to survive and we find ways. I am happy to be here and I feel sad especially for old people who have nobody to take care of them.

I don’t live there, but I was in the hospital for two weeks in Texas. My best nurses were the immigrants hands-down.

I would LOVE to know Michigan Medicine’s immigration rates. The hospital at U of M? We have so many workers from outside of the United States, and I love it. Our patient population is a mixing pot as well, so it helps having a multicultural team

No one is applying because a lot of locals wanted to live in bigger cities , I am an Rn an immigrant I started working in a rural area in Arizona , we were hired directly by the hospital given free housing , airfare, some $$ to start , that was 35 yrs ago , it’s always been short of nurses in small towns .

Filipino doctors and nurses are the reason why healthcare institutions are not collapsing not saying all but most, almost all of them really love to care. They are naturally caring people
